THIS WEEK IN MILITARY HISTORY
The Battle of Peleliu continued during this week in 1944. Marines of the 1st Marine Division faced determined resistance after landing on September 15, and soldiers of the Army’s 81st Infantry Division reinforced the fight. Peleliu reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and teamwork of Marines, sailors, and soldiers in the Pacific campaign.
